The rise of various mental health concerns prompted President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to sign Republic Act 11036 or also known as the Mental Health Act on June 20, 2019. Its primary purpose is to provide affordable and accessible mental health services to every Filipino. The law also covers the promotion of mental health and policies in the workplace.
Following the same, the City Government of Davao through the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) has been conducting Mental Health Awareness (MHA) webinars to both Plantilla and Job Order/Contract of Service employees to address the ever daunting issues of mental health in the workplace.
Since the start of the program in June 2020, the HRMO has managed to conduct five MHA webinars to more than 250 employees from various offices in the city. Positive feedback regarding its timely execution resonated to more employees and offices inquiring about the program. The HRMO plans to continuously conduct MHA webinars in order to cater more employees in need of knowledge and voice to combat mental health concerns in the workplace.
